I would give zero stars if I could. I came to this clinic due to it being highly recommended for EDS. I have spent years trying to find answers and the right provider to help me. I felt so happy to finally find a clinic where they specialized in the kind of care that I need. I am autistic, and have severe medical PTSD. Due to this I need a patient and empathetic provider, I prefer seeing female providers and was told when scheduling that if I had an initial consult with Dr Nixon I could then be transferred to a female provider. I saw Dr Nixon and he was anything but kind or empathetic. I brought my husband with me to both of my appointments as he assists me with communication since it is difficult with my autism at times. I explained to Dr Nixon at both of my appointments that I need patience and empathy from my provider and due to my trauma I need him to communicate how/where he is going to touch me before doing so. At both of my appointments he communicated less than half the time before touching. He treated me like he was a mechanic trying to fit in a job he didn’t have time for. Not a human being. At my procedure I had questions about the consent form due to my autism and anxiety. I was offered to have an administrator go over it with me. She was incredibly rude to me, cut me off every-time I tried to speak. Then said I should talk to Dr Nixon about it. I told her I was afraid that my care would be impacted if my questions were passed on to the doctor. She said that was not how their practice operated and there would be no issues. When talking to the Dr he was incredibly curt, short tempered, rude and disrespectful to me. Talking over me, dismissing my concerns, invalidating my experience and gas lighting me. I told him that I didn’t feel as though he was treating me from a trauma informed scope and I didn’t feel comfortable. He said he didn’t have time to deal with me, and to let him know where to transfer my records and left the room. I left the procedure in tears. The PA pulled me aside and asked me if I was okay. We had a great discussion about how some practitioners aren’t a great fit for everyone and that was totally okay. She told me she would request for my care to be transferred to Dr Renk or the PA on staff. The front desk was also very kind to me and updated my chart notes to no longer have care with Dr Nixon. I was assured I would be receiving a phone call about my transfer of care.
Today I received a phone call from a practice administrator telling me that I am no longer welcome as a patient. Dr Nixon called Dr Renk on her vacation and blatantly lied to her, claiming that I cussed out him, his PA and the entire front desk staff, and sited that my need for clarification on a consent form was problematic. So the very thing I was fearful of happening and told the administrator I thought would happen, happened. The administrator explained that both Dr Nixon and Dr Renk think I’m “not a good fit”. They offered me zero referrals for where to go for treatment. Alpenglows website even boasts the Dr Renk is the only provider in the area who specializes in the treatment of EDS. I advocated for myself and offered to have my husband call and speak to the administrator as a witness and was told that wasn’t necessary. I never cussed out anyone, I had a conversation outside of the exam room after my appointment with my husband in which I expressed my frustration directly to my spouse, but this was a private discussion and outside of my appointment. I never swore at a staff member, called anyone there a name, or broke any of the office policies. Dr Nixons ego couldn’t handle being told that he wasn’t communicating in a trauma informed manner and he was so offended he sabotaged my health care, lied to the practice owner, and put my health and treatment at risk. He was negligent of my care and needs as a patient, put me in an unsafe scenario and acted out of vengeful spite. I supplied the administrator with the contact information for my health care team to provide additional support and advocacy for myself and she said they wouldn’t do that as they already made up their minds. If you prefer being treated like a human being with feelings and emotions don’t even step foot inside this abysmal clinic. They do not care about helping you. They do not care about your quality of life. They do not care about you feeling safe, heard or validated

I want to start off by saying the staff are all very kind and welcoming. I appreciate the clinic and the work they do but I left my appointment very dissatisfied with the treatment experienced. I do not live in Anchorage, and had to schedule travel arrangements to make it to this appointment. I had been referred by my primary for chronic pain and wanted answers. After showing disinterest in recurring visits and injection therapies, the Dr became dismissive, seemingly irritated and short. My questions were answered briefly, a diagnosis and medical options given but I left feeling very much like I had been shopping for a used car with no credit. My hope is future patients receive a better experience than mine. There are a-lot of valuable treatments and expertise here, but my expectations and needs were not met.

I cannot say enough about Alpineglow Pain and Wellness Clinic! After 4 months of treatment, I’ve regained over 90% relief from my chronic shoulder, neck, upper back, and migraine pain. It truly feels like I’ve gotten a big part of my life back.
Dr. Renk is hands down the most knowledgeable, kind, and incredibly efficient doctor I have ever met. Her expertise in pain and migraine management is Unmatched, and she always treats me with such compassion. Every visit is not only effective but uplifting.
A huge shout-out also goes to Kaidyn and AJ—Dr. Renk’s amazing assistants. Their warmth, positivity, and genuine care always put a smile on my face. Together, Dr. Renk, Kaidyn, and AJ create a superb environment that makes every appointment something I look forward to.
The entire staff at Alpineglow is incredible, but these three truly stand out as extraordinary professionals. Thank you all for helping me live a much better, pain-free life!
And to my fellow VA Veterans: if you’re struggling with physical pain, ask your Primary Care provider for a referral to Dr. Renk at Alpineglow Pain and Wellness Clinic. You will be so glad you did!
Thank you for everything you have done for me!!! Kathleen Davis

It’s been two weeks today since Dr. Renk performed the PRP injection on my left knee. I’m really happy with the results. Some 20 years ago, I was told I needed a knee replacement during my retirement physical from the military. The pain was manageable then, but osteoarthritis is pervasive. Today, the pain is virtually gone, only some stiffness remains. Swelling is down 25%. I’m sleeping comfortably again. I’m off ibuprofen. The PRP is a game-changer for me. A big thank you to Dr. Renk and the staff. Commensurate professionals at Alpenglow.

Have been seeing Jenn for medical massages for a little while now, related to shoulder surgery I had done. The techniques that are used she explains why they are being done and what the final result she is looking to achieve is. Very personable and I will say that the massages have made a world of difference in my shoulder!

Dr. Calor is the best! She takes the time to listen and understand a concern and will go above and beyond to get a patient what is needed to help get them out of pain or at least manage it very well.

After 45 years of near-constant headaches, I’m thrilled that Dr. Calor suggested and Dr. Renk performed a cervical nerve ablation. I’ve had almost no headaches since, even after landing on my head, neck, and shoulders when we tipped over our side-by-side. Miraculous!

Such caring providers. I had a procedure that I was super nervous about. They took such great care of me to make sure I was comfortable and talked me through everything. Having Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome makes life a pretty wonky sometimes and I feel very fortunate to have a provider + a great staff that has the knowledge that they do. Top notch.

I love this clinic. Everyone is very nice and helpful. My pain has gotten manageable now, with the injections and medication that are specifically for EDS. Also helped me get in with my cardio to get my POTS diagnosed. I always recommend Dr. Rink and Cynthia Dunleavy, PA if anyone deals with pain and hyper mobility.

I was feeling very defeated when I found Dr. Renk. I learned that she is the only one in our state the knows l anything about Ehlers Danlos. She answered so many of my questions and definitely made me feel less hopeless. I am very greatful for APPENGLIW and the staff. So HAPPY I found them! CE

I'm an odd duck when it comes to pain management. I am unable to take most forms of opioid and breakthrough pain medications. So, much of my management has to come through procedures like injections. However, I am also terribly allergic to local anesthetics. Dr. Renk has been willing to provide me with these procedures and follow my wishes for receiving no form of local anesthetic or pain interventions for them. I know it must be nerve wracking, but her level of skill is unparalelled in my experience. I have received multiple treatments, and the pain involved was truly minimal with a fast recovery. It is a blessing to have such a skilled provider on hand, and makes real pain management a possibility for a patient even as difficult as me!

I must say, no-one likes to deal with pain. I was referred to Alpenglow by my Physical Therapist Brooke Lewis. She is amazing and for me, made the right call. I had my first appt with Dr Calor, and she was very personal and professional and I must say, very thorough on diagnosing my situation. Let me back up and say the entire staff was amazing, the facility is among the cleanest, nicest facilities I have visited. I was 100% against using narcotics or regular pain pill management as an option. My first of four procedures went exactly as Dr Calor said, that impressed me. I would without doubt recommend them, if you are ever in a situation where Pain Management is needed.

Dr. Renk, Jenny, and all of her staff are nothing short of phenomenal. I have nothing but wonderful experiences at Alpenglow Pain and Wellness. I am a regular here and have a pretty severe case of hEDS so I go in frequently for injections and medication refills. From the time I walk in the time I walk into the door I am greeted with smiles and hugs (Kaidyn! :) They treat you like family and are quick to get you in and answer questions and calls. Dr. Renk is SOO smart. She truly understands the challenges of managing pain with EDS having it herself. She brings a plethora of options to the table. From supplements to injections to pharmaceuticals and sees the big picture inclusive of the patient's history. I 10/10 recommend Alpenglow!

Dr.Calor is the most amazing doctor I have ever had! She is kind, patient and understanding. She makes you feel heard. I have a rare disease and so far have had 32 surgeries, and she’s taken it upon her self to learn about what I have and work with my surgeon in Colorado. She is empathetic and understanding, and truly cares for you as a person. I would 100% recommend her to anybody. You would be lucky to have a doctor like Dr. Calor in your corner and in your life!
