As a board-certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician, Dr. Gavin Nixon believes in helping patients alleviate pain and achieve optimal functioning through a combination of interventional procedures, neuro-modulation, regenerative medicine, rehabilitation, and pharmacologic means without chronic opioid use.
Dr. Nixon completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. He then went on to complete his pain fellowship training at Swedish Neuroscience Center in Seattle focusing on the diagnosis and interventional management of the spine. Dr. Nixon grew up in Alaska and is returning to the state to join our team of collaborative pain practitioners to continue to provide Alpenglow patients with access to well-rounded interventional pain management care.
Dr. Nixon offers minimally invasive procedures utilizing ultrasound and fluoroscopy to treat disorders of the spine and musculoskeletal system. Dr. Nixon can also offer a comprehensive rehabilitation approach including a physical therapy prescription, medications when needed, and patient education. Dr. Nixon has a passion for spine fractures and specializes in vertebral augmentation in the spine due to painful compression fractures.
Dr. Nixon’s goal with his patients is to engage and participate in the healing and rehabilitation process by educating and providing patients with a well-informed understanding of their disease process, guiding management decisions, and encouraging patients to play an active role in their return to a more functional and active lifestyle. Dr. Nixon is an avid hiker, runner and world traveler who loves to spend time in nature.
